Tintero of Kuelap, "Inkpot" Tower

The Tintero, or "InkPot", on the south end of the fortress is a large stone building with an underground chamber. Legends tell of human and animal sacrifices within the deep chamber. Recent investigations lead to the possibility that the tower was used as an astrological observation post with specially placed windows to chart the movements of the Sun and Moon.
